アイコン ABOUT MYSELF(biography)
Taro Takeuchi was born in Kyoto, Japan.
After completing his study of law and music, he came to study early music at the Guildhall school of music and drama London with Nigel North.
Since leaving college, he has became active in Europe and now regularly performs and tours internationally.
He now lives in London and has worked with The Parley of Instruments (Peter Holman) Glyndeboune Opera, Kings Consort, The Orchestra of Age of Enlightenment (Simon Rattle).
He has made numerous recordings as a soloist and a continuo player for EMI, Hyperion, BBC, Deux-Elles and  others, and recently he has been working with Nigel Kennedy/Berliner Phirhamonic Orchestra and  made several  DVDs/CDs  of Vivaldi's concerti  including [Four Seasons].
He plays all sort of lutes and early guitars and particularly specializes double strung early (5 & 6 course)  guitars and continuo playing on lute and guitar.  His solo recording on original baroque guitar [FOLIAS!] is released from Deux-Elles (DXL1030)  and got highly acclaimed. New CD on original 18th & 19th century guitar [The century that shaped the guitar] is released in 2006.

アイコン MY WORK
As a continuo player I work extensively with opera companies and orchestras.
As a soloist my greatest interest at present is performing 17th and 18th century guitar music on original instruments.I have recorded some CDs using old guitars from museums.
I have several originals myself and use them for my recitals.
I also teach and give workshops in Europe and in Japan.

アイコン MY PROJECT AT PRESENT
Recently I have been working on the guitar music of late 18th century.
i.e English music for 18th century cittern(guittar),
French music for Rococo 5 course guitar and Lyre guitar.
Works are by Straube, Porro, Merchi and others.
My plan is to record a CD or two in near future on original guitars from the period.
